Beauty Pop: Natural Beauty Foods In Your Kitchen

Hey Lovelies!
Happy Thursday..
Ever wonder the foods in your kitchen what you could you them for beauty wise?
Use them in their natural raw form and here I list 5 foods that can be used for beauty!
Check it out..

* Avocado: Is a excellent moisturizer, avocado is great as a face mask, mashed up and put on your hair, leaves your feeling hydrated.
* Oatmeal: Oatmeal is fast acting to soothe your skin also has major anti-inflammatory properties. You can drop it in the bath, make a oatmeal face mask, or even use it as a gentle scrub (works great just make sure it's plain oatmeal not flavored!!).
* Sugar: This ingredient makes a sweet natural exfoliant. Combine some sugar with a little olive, almond, or apricot oil for a great lip and body scrub (I love home-made scrubs!).
* Papaya: I love Papaya's! The papain in this fruit makes one of the best enzyme masks around. Makes to perfectly decongest your skin fast.
* Olive Oil: This kitchen favorite makes a great use in beauty too as it's perfect for hydrating your hair and smooth dry spots on your skin.

Manicure Monday: Laura Mercier Spring 2012 Nail Polish Collection

Hey Beauties!
Hope everyone's weekend went fabulous.
For this week’s Manicure Monday post.. I wanted to share with you all, the newest collection from Laura Mercier.. The Spring 2012 Nail Polish Collection.
I instantly fell in LOVE with the collection, and it's beautiful soft pretty spring shades. :)
So fresh & very tropical.
From left to right, the colors are: Sizzle, Flamingo, Luscious, Oh La La and Cabana.
I feel the names really match right on to the color tones. right? ;)
This will be Laura Mercier's first nail range in years (aside from her one release of polish "Twilight" for Holiday 2011).
A fun fact about these polishes.. each fast-drying formula is free of formaldehyde, toluene, and DBO, while a flat brush design ensures fuss-free application. I love the sound of all that!
The new lacquers retail for $18 a pop, and be sure to check them out on your next beauty shopping trip!
I really want to do a full review for this collection when I pick them up soon..
So look out for that coming up..

Beauty Pop: My Top 7 Favorite New York Fashion Week Manicures

Hey Dolls!
I wanted to share my Top 7 Favorite New York Fashion Week Manicures.. NY Fashion Week is the source for tons of amazing nail art and gorgeous polish ideas, and the Fall 2012 shows were filled with Ombré glitter manicures, fishnet-stocking French tips, easy pinwheel nail art: this season it seems like such a perfect fun filled manicures styles. Check out below some of my top favorite styles! and how to create them!

* Rachel Antonoff: The showstopping "Flirty Flower" nails at Rachel Antonoff were created with two coats of CND polish in Flashpoint as a base, then hand detailed using CND Brilliant White and Anchor Blue.

* Rachel Antonoff: At Rachel Antonoff, the "Starry Night" manicure used two coats of CND polish in Midnight Sapphire with a sponged overlay of Eclectic Purple and Studio White, followed by a coat of CND Effects in Sapphire Sparkle.

* Nicole Miller: To create the swirl manicure from Nicole Miller, start with a base of CND polish in Plumville, then use a toothpick or eyeliner brush to swirl over the top with Electric Orange, Bicycle Yellow, and Anchor Blue.

* Joy Cioci: Instead of using a polish to tip nails, the CND nail team at Joy Cioci cut pieces of net overlay to fit.

* Creatures of the Wind: To create the muted green shade at Creatures of the Wind, nail techs applied two coats of Essie Sew Psyched topped off with a single coat of its Mint Candy Apple polish.

* Kate Spade: The unevenly sized polka dots on the monochrome manicures at Kate Spade gave nails a polished but whimsical feel.

* Catherine Malandrino: At Catherine Malandrino, models got this "Plum Cherry" manicure with CND polishes in Plumville and Dark Ruby topped with two layers of high shine CND Air Dry top coat.

What I Love: Chocolate-Cherry Valentine Scones

Hey Lovelies!
Here is a Valentines sweet treat titled "Chocolate-Cherry Valentine Scones".
Check out the recipe below..

Prep Time
15 Minutes
Total Time
30 Minutes
Makes
9 scones

1 1/2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter, cut into 8 pieces
1/2 cup dried cherries
6 tablespoons whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup white vanilla baking chips
16 red candy melts or coating wafers (2 oz)

Heat oven to 400°F.
In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through mixture in opposite directions), cut in butter until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in cherries until coated with flour mixture. Stir in whipping cream, vanilla and egg just until liquid is absorbed into flour mixture.
Turn mixture out onto clean work surface; lightly knead 10 to 15 times or just until a dough forms. Using floured rolling pin or patting out with hands, roll dough into thick 15x2 1/2-inch rectangle.
With 2 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut 7 scones by placing cookie cutter in opposite directions directly on cut edge of previous heart. Place dough hearts about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Reroll dough scraps into 5x2 1/2-inch rectangle. Cut 2 additional heart shapes from remaining dough; place on cookie sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or just until edges are set. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.

Health Minute: 3 Unhealthy Valentine's Day Treats

Hey Dolls!
Love sweets around Valentines Day right? ;)
Well here are 3 treats that you should really limit yourself to only eating a very small amount of.
First up is.. A Box Of Chocolate, While dark chocolate offers many health benefits and may be the ideal, guilt-free V-Day goodie, the key to keeping it "healthy" is to not over indulge in these yummy chocolates. Try to just eat a couple small pieces and don't go eating the whole box! thats a no no!! Many box chocolates also include other types like.. milk chocolate, white chocolate and flavored and hugh sugared based like strawberry and caramel flavored, try to go for the dark chocolate only boxes. :)
Fact: Just four pieces of chocolate from Godiva Chocolatier has 210 calories, 12 g of fat (7 g saturated), 50 mg sodium and 20 g of sugar. That's around the same fat & calories as a small salted fries from Burger King.
Next is.. Conversation hearts, be very careful not to overload on these hugh sugared treats. I like to only eat a couple, any more than that and they are too sugary for me! Fact: One serving (approx. 10 pieces) has 60 calories, 14 g carbohydrates and 13 g of sugar..
And my favorite Valentines Day Treat.. Cinnamon Hearts, these yummy tasty firey treats are a very tiny candy that holds a strong load of sugar.. One serving size (approx. 20 pieces) has 60 calories, 14 g carbohydrates and 11 g sugar.

Hope these little facts on my Health Minute post: "3 Unhealthy Valentine's Day Treats" helped you out to know a little bit more about your favorite V-Day goodies!

Manicure Monday: My Favorite Nail Polish Shades For Perfect Valentine's Day Nails

Hey Lovelies!
Been getting lots of questions asking me what my favorite top Nail Polish shades to use around and on Valentine’s Day. So... I like to do either a French or light romantic & cute colored manicure.
I personally don’t like to go too super dark or on v-day just because I feel more darker shades are for more around fall/winter.. but I do feel that cinnamon and juicy red's are perfect for this holiday!
Also because it's nearing spring so fresh & light spring shades are perfect!
Here are just a few of my top favorite shades..

* OPI - Sweetheart
* OPI - Pedal Faster Suzi
* OPI - Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?
* Essie - Ballet Slipper
* Essie - A Crewed Interest
* Essie - Kisses and Bises
* Essie - Better Together
* Essie - Made of Honor
* Essie - Lacy Not Racy (A Juicy Red!)
* Zoya - Isla (A Spicy Cinnamon Hearts Shimmery Red!)

Beauty Pop: Get The Look: Be Beautiful In Pink For Valentine's Day

Hey Dolls!
With Valentine’s Day approaching in a couple of days, I thought it’d be fun to share with you a "Get The Look" titled "Be Beautiful In Pink For Valentines Day". I got inspired by this gorgeously pretty picture of Victoria's Secret Model Adriana Lima, and thought it's such a perfect makeup look for this holiday!
When It comes to makeup while your getting dolled up for V-Day, go for a natural look with a touch of rosy cheeks with doll like lashes and a pretty pucker up pink shade of lipstick.

~ Here is how to get the look.. :) ~
* To give your skin a flawlessly smooth foundation, start with KORRES Wild Rose Foundation.
Follow with KORRES Wild Rose Compact Powder to set your look and remove any additional shiny-ness and even skin-tone.
Dust it on with a makeup brush (can be the same as your foundation one!)
Make sure your foundation and powder is well blended along the jawline.
* Next up is EYES..
Brighten your entire eye area with the oh so gorgeous Victoria's Secret Makeup Shimmer Eye Shadow in shade Champagne, by applying it from your lashline all the way up to the arch of your brow (a great brow highlighter).
* Next, create a smoldering cat eye with Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in shade Black. Be sure not to tug on your eyelid, you don't want to cause premature wrinkles!
I like to start at the inner corner, and gradually thicken the line as you work your way out. For added drama, you can always line the inside of your lower lashline, too (for that I like to use a eye liner pencil.
To best achieve the 'wings' on your cat eye look make sure they are symmetrical, guide the liner three-quarters of the way across your lashline, then draw it one-third of the way up toward your brow. Be sure to fill in the area between your eye and the end point of the liner to create that classic stunning cat eye shape.
* After that, coat both top and bottom lashes with Physicians Formula Organic Wear Natural Origin Mascara in shade Ultra Black Organics! My favorite! It creates great doll like eyelashes on me! Without the need for any fake eyelashes! I love it.
* Then I like to touch up my brows just a bit, with the Too Faced Browines Pencil in shade Brown-ey.
For your Cheeks..
* Get a fresh natural glow by swirling Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Blush & Highlighter in shade Natural Glow onto the apples of your cheeks. For natural radiance, dust the bronzer up toward your temples, and along your jawline, too. Be sure to start with a light touch and gradually build color as desired.
* My favorite part! Lips!!
For a pretty pucker up pink shade of lipstick, I like to start with a lip balm first, my favorite is Nivea Hydro Care, then use Victoria's Secret Makeup Color Lust Lip Lacquer in Pose.
* I like to also add a touch of glitter to my hair style and a little on my body.. for this you can use.. Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Bronze Shimmer Dust.
* For a Fragrance choice with this beauty look, I would choose the very enticing Aquolina
Pink Sugar Sensual.

Hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to your emails and requests of other "Get The Look" posts!

Health Minute: Benefits of Papaya

Hey Readers..
Ever wonder what the health benefits of "Papaya's" are?
I have a favorite lip balm that is papaya scented so everytime I apply it, I feel like eating papaya's!
Papaya's are very soft and butter once named "fruit of the angels" by Christopher Columbus. It was known that papayas were considered exotic, now you can easily find these in your local grocery stores throughout the year. Although there is a slight seasonal peak in early summer and fall, papaya trees produce fruit year round. How amazing!
Papayas offer not only the luscious yummy taste and bright tropical color, but are very rich in..  antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; & the minerals, potassium and magnesium; and fiber. With all these nutrients they help promote the health of the cardiovascular system and also provide protection against colon cancer. In addition, papaya contains the digestive enzyme, papain, which is used like bromelain, a similar enzyme found in pineapple, to treat sports injuries, other causes of trauma, and allergies.

Hugo Naturals - Product Review Round #1! & Also CONTEST/GIVEAWAY

The Goodies I Tried Out!
The CONTEST/GIVEAWAY Goodies For One Of You!
Hey Pretty Readers.
Hope your morning is going lovely.
I wanted to share with you my thoughts on some products from a brand called "Hugo Naturals". I have been trying these out over the holiday's and getting some family member's & friends thoughts on them too, so here I go..
The company "Hugo Naturals" you might find their beauty & bath products popping up all over you local health stores and even some grocery stores. They make their products natural good to the planet and vegan/cruelty free, also what I adore about them is they are gluten and soy free, also never any.. parabens, phenoxyethanol, sulfates, PEGs, propylene glycol, petroleum products, silicones, phthalates, synthetic surfactants, artificial colors or synthetic fragrances. I love to find brands like this who believe in the same values as me. :)
The have products such as.. Body Care, Artisan Products, Baby Hugo Naturals, Hair Care, & Aromatherapy.
I tried out 12 items, = 3 Shower Gels, 3 Handcrafted Soaps, 1 Candle, 3 Lip Balms & 2 Foaming Hand Soaps.
Here are my thoughts on them..

Shower Gel (Vanilla & Sweet Orange, Grapefruit & Shea Butter & Oatmeal):
All three scents were nice but my favorite and family's favorite was the "Grapefruit" one. It was divine, I liked the many bubbles and light feel to these shower gels, I would love to try more scents soon!

Handcrafted Soap (Vanilla & Sweet Orange, Grapefruit & Shea Butter & Oatmeal):
I'm a fan of their Artisan Holiday/Seasonal themed Soaps I pick up at my local health food store in little "bricks" so I was happy to see these packaged up ones titled "Handcrafted Soap" are very similar and I liked them very much, my favorite was the Shea Butter & Oatmeal, felt extra smooth.. and I was glad to see they have 7 more different scents! I'm wanting to try the other scents soon!

Hand Poured Candle (Vanilla & Sweet Orange):
I was really excited about this one.. being I adore collecting candles, I was happy to hear this one had no toxins and soy free and it's a good size candle. I have been loving this on the dinning room table, I liked the scent Vanilla & Sweet Orange (so did my brother!) But I would have loved to see some sort of "design" on the candle, some elegant design would have been a beautiful touch. I would love to try the other two scents soon too!

Lip Balm (Pineapple & Coconut, Grapefruit, & Vanilla & Sweet Orange):
Being a lip balm lover, I have tried I feel almost all the different types of lip balms out there, so when I spotted these by hugo naturals I was excited about them and had very high expectations for them, but sadly they did not live up to what I was looking for. All three scents were lovely, and nice and strong, my favorite scent was the "Pineapple & Coconut", it reminded me and took me back to nice memories when I was younger of a super yummy donut shop that used to just around the corner from my home, it really smelled like their sweet donuts.. now I'm craving them bad, but the place closed down years ago.. getting back to the lip balms now, they are very dry and not moist at all, I've never seen one like this before, I wonder If it was a bad batch? While I tried to put it on my lips, it kind of hurt them.

Foaming Hand Soap (Vanilla & Sweet Orange & Shea Butter & Oatmeal):
I love finding a nice moisturizing hand soap. These are both really nice, I loved the "Shea Butter & Oatmeal" scent for this foaming hand soap. It's really soft and sweet on your hands and treated my sensitive skin very nice. It was a little light wish made me feel like I had to use a little more, but overall I did enjoy them, I wish they had more scents for these! Possibly soon Hugo Naturals? ;)
