It is with deep regret that the Vancouver Canucks today announced that Carly Bragnalo, fiancée of Canucks forward Taylor Pyatt, has passed away. Bragnalo was 27-years-old.
“Today the Canucks lost a member of our family,” said Canucks General Manager, Mike Gillis. “Carly was a lovely and generous young woman who shared her spirit for life with our players, their spouses and their extended families. We will support the Bragnalo family, Taylor and his entire family in any way we can during this very difficult time.”
“It’s really tough," said Alex Burrows. "Obvioulsy all our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Taylor and Carly. We wish them all the best through this challenging time and we’re going to be there to support them that’s for sure, because he’s part of our team.
“Personally, Taylor was been my roommate for the last few years on the road and we spent a lot of time together. I know he really cared about Carly and talked to her every night. Just loved her a lot and it’s a really sad, challenging time right now, but we’re a tight group in here and we’ve faced adversity in the past and now we’ll try to battle through it.

The Pyatt family is deeply saddened by this tragic loss. At this difficult period, the family would request to be given the time to grieve in private. We are focused on our son and the Bragnalo family. We thank you for your support and understanding.

CANUCKS HEAD TO EDMONTON
After clinching a playoff spot with the point from the 6-5 shootout loss to the Ducks last night the Canucks left for Edmonton today following their morning practice. The team will face off against the Oilers tomorrow night before returning home for a Sunday game against Colorado at GM Place.
The Canucks improved to 94 points last night and sealed their playoff spot. Sitting at fourth in the West they are one point above Chicago and tied with Calgary, who they will host on Tuesday. Vancouver has five games remaining in the regular season.
“All the teams that we’re playing right now are almost facing elimination, so there’s a huge level of desperation to their game," said head coach Alain Vigneault. "It makes us have to play at a higher standard and a higher level and that’s what we’re going to try to do tomorrow.
“Getting into the playoffs in the NHL is a very challenging thing. Only 16 teams out of 30 have the opportunity to challenge for the Cup. We’ve faced some adversity and I think we got better because we went through it. Now I think we’re playing some pretty good hockey. Playoffs are around corner, we’ve achieved our first goal of making the playoffs. Now we have a chance at [getting] home ice and we’re going to focus on that."
