Health Minute: Benefits of Papaya

Hey Readers..
Ever wonder what the health benefits of "Papaya's" are?
I have a favorite lip balm that is papaya scented so everytime I apply it, I feel like eating papaya's!
Papaya's are very soft and butter once named "fruit of the angels" by Christopher Columbus. It was known that papayas were considered exotic, now you can easily find these in your local grocery stores throughout the year. Although there is a slight seasonal peak in early summer and fall, papaya trees produce fruit year round. How amazing!
Papayas offer not only the luscious yummy taste and bright tropical color, but are very rich in..  antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; & the minerals, potassium and magnesium; and fiber. With all these nutrients they help promote the health of the cardiovascular system and also provide protection against colon cancer. In addition, papaya contains the digestive enzyme, papain, which is used like bromelain, a similar enzyme found in pineapple, to treat sports injuries, other causes of trauma, and allergies.
